Posts: 200 | I am looking to get another reel for my 8’6” rod. Thinking either the Lexa WN or the Tranx 300. I already have a Lexa 300 WN with the 7 gear, I like it but it makes some squeaky noises on the retrieve and doesn’t have great casting distance. What do you guys think?

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | Here is a video on the Tranx https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCCgHz53HqM The PG is 5.8 30 inches of line pickup, Power and Speed. HG 7.6 is 40 inches is Super Fast buts lacks Power. The PG is best for around, Power With Speed. The HG is perfect for slack line pickup or Baits that have no resistance. The TE and Calcutta B have only 23 inches of line Pickup so 30 on the PG is a Big Difference. Here is a another review http://www.tackletour.com/reviewshimanotranx300a.html Hope it helps PM me anytime if you need more help.

Yes if you use 80lb or 100lb braid go with the 400. The 300 if you are using 50lb or 65 lb braid. The 400 is a little wider same height same weight Approximately.

Posts: 200 | It would be a reel I use to mostly steady retrieve lures like angry dragons and shallow invaders and such. Not sure if I need the speed of the hg. I sometimes have a hard time slowing down as it is,lol.

Posts: 49 | Lexa 300-WN or 300HD, hands down. I originally had two Maxtoros and wanted to slowly begin upgrading my gear. I bought q Tranx 300HG, and i liked it a lot, but it felt so tiny to me. And i dont have the biggest of hands either. So if i was going to get another one, i would get two 400's. At that time i was reading a lot about the Lexa 400 HD's, and decided to order one. I used both of them every time i went fishing, and i really loved the Lexa 400 HD -- from the color, the design, and the way it felt when using it. I ended up getting another 400hd and after some time fishing with them i didn't enjoy how large it was over an entire day fishing. So back to the drawing board i went; I really loved how the Lexa WN's looked, and after reading reviews on them i pulled the trigger on two Lexa 300-WN's with 6:3.1 gears. I absolutely love them, for the price of he Tranx 300HG you can get two Lexa 300-WN's, and they are really, really awesome reels. The Tranx 400s basically the same size as a 300-WN. The Tranx 300hg just doesn't FEEL like a Muskie reel, and the 400 was smaller than my Maxtoro's! Clearly money wasn't my deciding factor because I clearly blew a lot of money, lol. So I'm telling you i absolutely love them because i genuinely love them. Yes the Tranx 300 and 400 are nice reels, but I'm not big on the size of them, they feel too small for the rods I'd use for muskie(Abu Garcia Veritas Toro heavy). I absolutely love the feeling of the Lexa 300-WN, even compared to the Revo S and Toro Beast. You won't regret pulling the trigger on them.
