Posts: 315 | well I am pretty sure its all in one so mount it just like you would mount a sonar ducer,,,around 12 inches to the right of your motor on transom and just below the hull

Posts: 208 Location: musky waters , WI | Here's a couple pics on where I placed my side imaging ducer on my last two boats both were 619's so similar to 618. I place it so the bottom of ducer is above bottom of boat so if you hit or run over something floating or bottom you don't bust the ducer off. I also run y cable to a shoot thru hull for 2d sonar will on plane. Hope this helps any. Attachments ---------------- image.jpg (33KB - 235 downloads) image.jpg (53KB - 258 downloads)

Posts: 462 Location: Antioch, IL | Muskymania is spot on, you will need to use the Y splitter and also run a thru-hull transducer so he can read depth when on plane. The side imaging transducer are horrible at reading on plane. I've yet to see one that will.

Posts: 16 | So when not running side imaging. The universal transducer does not work as well when reading 2d sonar on plane?

Posts: 315 | Yes that what theyre saying, even the 2d sonar on universal ducer does not read very well on plane.

Posts: 117 | The transducer works fine for 2d sonar, problem is its not in clean water (or not in water at all) when on plane if you mount it above the hull where its protected. If you get it JUST RIGHT it'll read pretty well but its super finicky and takes adjustment and you will still lose a picture probably in the 40's mph. In that boat doubt there is one, but if you have a jackplate attach it to that rather than the hull. Edited by Macintosh 8/2/2015 2:41 PM

Posts: 1828 | Any transducer installed as shown in that picture won't read when cruising because it's not in the water. Mine reads fine up to 40+ mph and I didn't think it was that difficult to adjust to the right level. You want the transducer "skiing" on the water when on plane. like half-submerged.
