Posts: 1283 | Not sure yet but I just got both rods. If I ever get to hit the water Ill let you know what I think. My plan is to use the Sling Blade with a NACL 6.4 ratio for suicks/twitch/jerks small cranks and blades and the Dawg with a 5.4 for bigger blades and rubber and large cranks etc

Posts: 393 | I have a Sling Blade and have used a Big Dawg. The action on the Sling Blade would be better than a Big Dawg for casting Suicks.

Posts: 410 Location: With my son on the water | I would have to ask you what type of boat do you primarily fish out of and how high off the water are you? That could play a big part in how long of rod you may want to get. For me I don't like to work a jerk bait with my rod pointed to the side versus I like it pointed dirrectly at the bait. If the rod is too long the rod tip slaps the water which for me I don't like. I will agree you should get the longest rod you can and I also prefer a heavier action rod so the bait moves when I move the pole versus the the rod tip moving. I may be old school but that's what I have settled into. What works for me is a TI 7'6" XXH, my son is still shorter than me so he used a 6'6" So every body is different so different things will work differently for each. Have a good day.

Posts: 7048 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | For suicks (and gliders/bobbies/daddys/jakes) I go with an 8" diamondback, somewhere between H and XH. I pair it with a curado 300 for fast line pick up. Long enough to toss big baits, but not too stiff to get a soft twitchy tap when needed.

Posts: 4343 Location: Smith Creek | Sling Blades casts them better, Big Dawg works them better through slop. If you don't plan on ripping them through slop then go Sling Blade.
