This will be my first time going to lake of the woods via the Northwest Angle. Usually go through Morson, so I am unfamiliar with the road headed to Young's bay.
From my understanding the road is dirt/gravel. Is it gravel from Sprauge Manitoba on up? How well is the road maintained?
Considering rock blocker of some sort to protect the rig a little. I've been on other dirt roads for over 40 miles one way and it definitely takes its toll on equipment.

Location: Warroad, Mn | There's about 20 miles of gravel. If you hit a little rain it will be muddy and your boat and pick-up will be mud from top to bottom. If you hit a dry stretch it will be very dusty. If you hit a time when there's quite a bit of traffic it can get wash boardy. If you are lucky and it's been recently graded it's not too bad.
Some sort of protection for your boat and trailer is a good idea, and lots of folks who make the trip have them on their truck. Helps if you go a little slower when pulling a boat on the gravel. It's not the worst road in the world and both the US and Canadian side do a pretty good job of maintenance.

Location: Altoona IA | Agree with dougj. I highly recommend a rock blocker. I don't go very fast and I still get rock chips on the fenders and bow. I don't think the mudflap type work as well. I have since ran up from Baudette via water along the boarder. If you can get out of the gap (especially end of Oct) its a pretty easy trip. Before and after.

Location: Madison | Also, apparently there is a car/boat wash in Warroad. Really wish I would have known that last year after out trip. |

Location: Warroad, Mn | Yep! Car wash is straight ahead from the stop light at highway 11. Go about a 1/4 mile, it's on the LH side of the road.

| I live on the west side of Minneapolis and the fastest and shortest route is go on the west side of Red Lake and going through Roseau. However the border is only open until midnight. |

| I forgot my Rock Tamers one year and my trailer looks like it has been sandblasted. Got plenty of chips on my Crestliner as well. It's 12 years old now, so I am not so concerned. But if it was new or just a few years old I would've been pretty upset.
