I have a new Lowrance that has 3000 lakes pre programmed and most the lakes I fish are already on there. Is it worth buying Navionics for those same lakes? Or would I only benefit on other bodies of water that are not already pre programmed.

You won't know until you plug one in. Navionics, Lakemaster and others often use different data sources. Navionics vs the Insight maps on LSC look like two different lakes.

Actually a $400 dollar gamble if I buy The N & E platinum series(which I would have to for where I fish) and all the lakes I regularly fish are already on the unit. If they are worth it, I will buy them. Just not looking to waste that much at the same time.

Also as horsehunted asked which is best?

I was not impressed with the Insight on rthe lakes I fish. Barely any contours compared to the 1 or 3' contours available on Navionics or Lakemaster

Navionics have done all the work for you no comparison you'll have it for ever lots of detail.

It depends.  For LSC, I prefer Navionics.  But there's some places that Insight or Lakemaster would be better.  Likewise, it depends on how and where you fish and what's important to you.  To me, fishing big water, nav aids are important.  Now, Insight may've changed, but when I first looked at them they had buoys that didn't exist and then had entire channels showing now buoys at all.  So for that body of water, I prefer Navionics.  But I know a lot of guys that prefer Lakemaster for some inland lakes...there is no "best" or "better" chip across the board.

So yeah, ya gotta play around with each and see which one fits your water and your needs best.

Rather than playing around to see which works, go to their websites. They all show what lakes they have available in HD (1' contours). Each MFG is different. I chose Navionics over Lakemaster and Insight because the other 2 didn't have the lakes I fish in HD. Navionics also has a cool product with their "Freshest Data" program that you get 1 year free with a new purchase. 2 lakes I fish have been updated since I purchased mine in 2011.
