| So I'm looking for a way to get my trolling lures down deeper into the 20-25' range and I'm curious as to how much deeper snap weights would get them. Mainly, I troll 10" jakes, kraves, and custom x's. Anybody have any experience on how to get these about 4-10' deeper? Thanks in advance. |

Location: Madtown, WI | I make my own trolling keel weights like stealth tackle sells. I've made them with up to 8oz of lead. That will get any bait as deep as you want it with minimal line out. |

Location: Madtown, WI | Yep. Tie line directly to a cross loc snap and then you can easily swap in a different size weights or remove all together. The rig also needs a cross loc snap that connects to the ball bearing of leader. I use it in front of a 2-3' 7strand 135# leader. You have 3 cross locks total in the entire rig, but I've never had one fail so I'm not too worried about it.
The dangling wire design also snags most weeds that follows your line down and should also eliminate any line twist. You'll have to put in additional time figuring out depth curves though. |

| if you really want something that work don't use something that weight just 3 oz.you should try a mojo his head shape will make your lure stay exactly were you want with less line out.i use the 28 oz with a modification that allow me to add a blade

| I use two types of keel weights when I troll. One is similar to a walleye bottom bouncer and the other looks like this http://stores.tmancustomtackle.com/catalog/New%20Deep%20Water%20Kee...
Only problem with these are if I get snagged, using a lure knocker is difficult to impossible since it won't go over the keel weights to get to the lure. Lost a nice homemade last year this way. |

| just don't run a short leader with weight. we run 5ft in front of baits . lets the swim/wobble better |
