Location: Green Bay, WI | Depends upon your operating system of course. For Windows there's Sony Vegas Pro (easy enough to use), Adobe Premiere Pro, and also some reduced featured products. For the Mac there is Final Cut X, or whatever it is they are calling it these days. There are probably some free versions too, like Windows Movie Maker. On a Mac the iMovie app should work, although you might have to convert the footage into a codec it understands. I believe that should work, although I've never tried it. The point is that you can pretty much use any software application that allows editing of 720p or 1080p HD video, if you're shooting in HD. I don't think there's anything special about the footage, is what I am saying. The trick is that, at least with the freebie apps, you might have to finesse the footage into something they understand--because their features are understandably more limited. TB

Posts: 337 Location: Central WI | I used Window Movie Maker to edit videos from last season. If I had extra cash for an editing program, I'd try something different, but WMM worked fine.

Location: Green Bay, WI | Actually come to think of it, YouTube's upload utility allows you to do some editing as I recall. I use Vegas Pro myself, but I could swear I saw a YouTube video on editing YouTube videos...with YouTube's video editor! LOL. Location: Green Bay, WI | Good point! That's another good reason to see if you can use the browser-based YouTube utility. May as well use their system to do the heavy lifting, instead of yours--although I doubt the editing you can do with their tool will be that taxing anyway. Rendering is what I have found to use the most processing power. If you have a 64-bit machine, then things should go more smoothly if you have to rely on your own machine. However if it's an older 32-bit machine, then it could indeed be a little dicey. TB

Location: Grand Rapids, MI | sworrall - 5/14/2013 3:44 PM Another step up to Pro is Adobe CS6 http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=adobe+suite+cs6&t... CS6 is going away and will be sold for a little longer but updates are a thing of the past. Everything Adobe will be through the Creative Cloud in the future. Regardless of your machine, PC or Mac, the Adobe creative suite is the best IMO. However, $1200 in software or $50/mo for the CC version probably ins't for everyone. For the average user on a PC, Movie Maker will do the job and on a Mac, iMovie. With these you aren't going to have great color control, audio control, etc., etc. but that's OK, just being able to edit and get it on YouTube is all most people really need.

Posts: 101 | Go Pro offers a free video editing program that you can download. I haven't used it myself but have a friend that said it was easy to use. http://gopro.com/software-app/cineform-studio#description

Posts: 46 | Go Pro released its own simple editing software earlier this year called Cineform Studio. It is pretty simple to use, nothing to complicated and you can watch a quick youtube video to get you orientated with how things work. For a DSLR I would use a final cut or adobe premier program, a lot more in depth to get the best quality of movie your expensive camera can put out. For pictures I like to use Adobe light room, makes it very easy to adjust colours, brightness, white balance etc... Just remember to shoot in raw to be able to have the ability to change everything.
