Posts: 279 Location: Central Wisconsin | Hi, I have been considering making my own bumpboard and I've been trying to search for the homemade bumpboard thread that was posted sometime last year. Can anyone help me out? It had pics from several people that have made their own, there were some good ideas. Thanks

Cool threads, I've been fighting buying one vs. making one. There are some good ideas there

Posts: 139 | This is actually a fun project. I made mine out of vinyl trim boards from Menards. Its about 1/4 thick, white with a wood grain texture. I cut 2 pieces 30" long, put 2 hinges in the middle and took another piece to make the bumper on top. I used a stong epoxy to glue that on. then just went to walmart and got some measuring tape (made out of vinyl) the stuff that comes in a small roll used for sewing. Glued that down. For about $10 i have mine and its held up to 3 years so far. I just can't see paying close to $100 for someone to make me one.

Posts: 501 Location: S.Wisconsin | Made mine out of cedar full length with no hinge. Coated the whole thing in envirotex and she is plenty slick when wet. Used a starrett 36" blade to set the tape to so I know its accurate. If you want I can post a couple pics. Attachments ---------------- bump.jpg (61KB - 225 downloads)

Posts: 136 Location: Chicago | I wanted an heirloomed older look. So I used some 1/2" x 10" maple routed the edges distressed it with worm holes and what not. Then stained and glazed it with weathered teak stain and couldn't be happier.
