Looking at one of the videos on the slate today, I was caused to wonder what if any success folks have had with the clown color pattern. When I was just starting out on my lure collection, I purchased an 8" Jake in clown and not long thereafter had a mid-summer fish hit it on a fast troll. (Of course I lost the fish, although it did look sort of neat leaping out of the water in an arc.) Since that summer, I haven't resorted to the clown much. What about others? Does the clown work at all on Northern Pike?

Posts: 5874 | Clown is a great color. Many fish have come on clown for me, including my biggest to date, and another even bigger that was water released. Bait was a Baby Shallow Raider trolled about a foot from the kicker prop. Here's a link to that fish. No pics on the work laptop. http://muskie.outdoorsfirst.com/board/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=46... Edited by Shep 1/26/2012 8:29 AM

Posts: 906 Location: Warroad, Mn | I've caught lots of fish on a 9" Grandma Clown in the green colored waters of Melton Hill. Not real sure it's the color, or the fact that I could work the lure through tree tops with out getting snagged, but the fish thought the color was great. Got a couple packed already. I've also done well with clown in a 10" Jake on the LOTWs as a trolling color. The fish in my avatar was caught on a clown Jake. Doug Johnson

Posts: 1039 | I've never used a clown color. But my lake gets plenty muddy with any wind, so I'll be picking up a few. Thanks for starting the thread.
