My buddy has a squirley tail phantom that absolutely has no paint left on it. We call it the "paintless perch". The side has a crack in it from teh all the way through eye. He wants to seal the crack and paint it like it was brnad new. This bait has got to have got 10 - 15 fish. I told him he is crazy. What your thoughts and do you have a bait like this?

i would just seal it lighly so that you do not change the way the bait works. there is obviosly something they like about the bait.. if its wood, i would just reseal it with devcron 2 ton epoxy and turn it on a turner so it is even. and he can paint it too before hand if he wants too...bill

Don't mess with good MOJO. MOJO is a fickle bee-yotch, and she doesn't like to be messed with. She will tell you how to play with her. Ask a certain now-wood 6" Reef Hawg of mine.

personally, i love the fact that the battle scarred baits catch fish. i'd leave it till she no longer moves fish. worse case if it doesn't run proper i'd put it over the fire place and not mess with it

I was just going to say that. Best producing Suicks are the ones that a beat to death. I run them till I cant keep the fine on.

I find fish stay away from them until they are water logged, hook rashed and frayed. I will have to post a pic of some of my rashed Suicks. Almost seems like they appear more real as a dieing fish when the colours are blotchy and messed up.

palerider, the bait is for sale.... But I'll need to use it this fall. Can you say, money bait..... See you tonight Ryan!!! I think I'll leave the "paintless perch" alone.

Yeah, leave the lucky lure alone bro. I too tried the re-paint job on a lucky "worn" lure and it became jinxed soon after.
