Anyone on here have a Ranger 1860? Looking to talk to someone about them in general, motor size, performance, rough water handleing, things like that. Let me know, thanks!

I have one w/ a 150 Opti. I've hit 50 w/ just me and a light load, but w/ another guy and a little more gear a reliable 48 is more the norm. The boat has a ton of room. I was concerned about the rear casting deck being too small but in reality there is plenty of room back there. What else would you like to know?

I got an 08 with a 150 Etec and love it. The back deck is fine, I've fished back there thanks to i-pilot and so have several other people without complaint. My 4 year old son fishes back there as well. I've had more of a problem with younger kids falling off the front deck trying to touch the water. The etec with a 4 blade 18" prop with a full tank and 2 people will run 45-46. Haven't had it in really nasty water where your wondering if you'll make it back but have had it in some rough water and handled it no problem. Handles wind well when using the trolling motor. Make sure you get the Ranger cover, easy to use, very waterproof. Only complaint is that it has more hull slap then mseyberts 620.
Mine was a hold over on a dealers showroom in 09 and already had the 150 on it but with that being said of all the ones I looked at all but 2 were 150's. Those were both 4 stroke yamaha's.

I have the 1850 Reata, similar but smaller front deck. I love my 1850 but would rather have the 1860. I think the 1860 with the larger front deck would be perfect. The 1850 is more of a multi species with the larger rear deck etc.... where the 1860 is more of the cross between multi and bass boat. i have a 175 suzuki on mine and it hits about 49 mph. I am propped lower thou. I like the better hole shot over top speed and 49 is fast enough for a fishing boat.

I have 2010 Ranger 1860 with 150 Verado and 80 Terrova. It has handled large waters like Mille Lacs, Vermillion, Tonka and LOW with comfort and safety. Fishing from both front and back platforms has been stable in rough waters. 3 can fish musky comfortably all day. Top speed fully loaded has been 45-47. I would recommend highly!

Im looking at putting a 175 Verado or Opti on one, I have no idea what prop comes on it or what should come on it as I really dont want to start playing around with props on a new boat.

Playing with props might be needed to make sure the boat performs the way you want it to. I have mine propped more for hole shot as most of the lakes I fish are smaller so I'm not cruising long. On the other hand if you are making long runs maybe a few mph will make a difference. Most shops will work with you but the motor needs to be broke in. I had a noticeable difference once mine was broken in.

I've got an 1860 rigged with a F150 and a T8. It's a great boat. The only time I've wished it was longer was late last summer on Mille Lacs. There were genuine 3-4 footers and I took a couple over the bow while running slowly. The prop that it had on it at the time sucked for hole shot and rough water grip.

It came with a 21p Yamaha prop that was good for about 53 in the fall - 2 guys, gear, and about 1/4 tank of gas. In the spring, same setup but with a full tank of gas I ran just shy of 50. I'm now running an 18p 4 blade prop that just jumps out the hole but knocked about 2-3 mph off the top end. I've run 46-48 all spring with it and anticipate that it'll be a little faster this fall.

It's a fantastic boat. I've sometimes wished for a little more storage (when the cooler is in use as a cooler), but really like the layout of the boat. The front deck is enormous and it's extremely wide and stable (in fact, I think it's wider than the 619 and 620). Also - make sure you get a 60" bow mount. There have been a few times when the extra length would be handy.

Even with the advent of 8.5 and 9' rods, it fishes 2 people extremely well. Can't say I've had 3 people in it chucking baits, but I imagine two on the bow and one on the stern would work just fine.

Hope that helps....

PS - as far as props (and even motors) go, check out Walleye Central - there are a number of folks running 1860's. That's where I got hooked up with Brainerd Props for my new prop.
