Posts: 238 | Well guys this past weekend some scum bag at the gass station swiped my big beckman. So now i am in the market for a new net. The beckman served me well and stood up to tons of abuse with not a single issue, however i always felt that the hoop seemed to flex to much but again never caused any issues while netting or dealing with fish. I have never owned or used a frabill but i know alot of you guys use them. So my question is to you guys and especially those that have used both what net do you like better and why? The shop i buy from has both the frabill and beckman nets in stock with good deals on both. I cant recall the model of the big beckman i had but the frabill i have intrest in is the model 8425 powercatch big game. So guys if you were in the delemia i am in and had to buy all over again what would be you reasons for purchaseing one brand over the other and why? Edited by kawartha kid 8/4/2010 11:07 AM

Posts: 2323 Location: Stevens Point, WI | The Frabill has the PowR-Lok yoke system and the netting they use is in my opinion the best. Best net I've used!

Location: Contrarian Island | I own the biggest Beckman and the Frabil Big Kahuna...I like them both...both are great nets...the Beckman is for WI fishing and the Big Kahuna for MN trips...can't go wrong with either imo....fishing solo the Beckman is A LOT easier to maneuver around than the Big Kahuna..something to think about if you do lots of solo fishing

Posts: 238 | Thanks for the replies guys,i really like the idea of the self alignment yoke on the frabil. No messing around trying to find the hole like a silly teenager. I am going to make a trip to the shop latter this week and take a closer look at the frabill. Since i already know what i am getting with the beckman theres no need to look there. This time around i think it will be the frabill. Thanks guys Cliff

Posts: 727 | I have the Frabill model one size down from the big kahuna and it is great only issue would be weight for fishing alone.

Posts: 2687 Location: Hayward, WI | I also have the Frabill Powercatch one size down from the Kahuna. It isn't the lightest net out there, but it certainly isn't terrible to handle either. I'm not the biggest guy in the world and I don't really have any problems with it. When I went to it from a very light net it seemed heavy, but I got used to it. No matter what, you're not going to be swinging any musky net around in the water with one hand anyway. Along with that, you should have a good shot of adrenaline when you are about to net a fish anyway - that seems to help! I like that the bag on the Frabill is VERY tangle free. Maybe the Beckman is similar, but I don't think I've ever had a ball of net/bait/fish with my Frabill. I doubt you could go wrong with either, but I have been happy with my Frabill (geeze I'm going to sound like John Gillespe if I say Frabill one more time). curleytail

Posts: 238 | Thanks for the replies guys,i went to the shop last nite and picked up the frabill power catch 8245,which is one size down from the Kahuna. The beckman i had was a good net but i liked the mesh on the frabill better, that and the self aligning yoke closed the deal. I am looking forward to putting some fish in this net,it should serve me very well. Cliff
