As of October 20th Minnesota has a new muskie lake in Lake Pokegama in the Grand Rapids area!

A big thanks goes out to those that have put forth their support in getting this lake approved and stocked. Some of those people include:

Gary and the Star of the North Chapter
John Underhill
Rob Kimm
George Selcke
Carl Peterson
Members of the MMA
And all the others that spent time in meetings, making calls and emails.

All I know is that the first round is on me at the next TC Chapter meeting!

Congrats, enjoy the victory, but the battle is still there for more lakes. Thanks to everyone involved, and the call that were made and emails. We need to keep the ball rolling and keep adding new lakes. We need people to get involved with MI, MMA and help support our cause at meeting, sitting on advisory board with the DNR and a big thanks to all that have donated a ton of their personal time. Also need to keep raising the bar in supporting the stocking of new water and maintaining old water. So please get involved and show up at Banquets and other functions to support MN fishery.

Shawn, I take a pitcher of Beer,

PS-Do you still need help with the dragging the pond this weekend?

Sean,

Are they going to stock it only with fingerling and fry or will they do some planting of adult fish in there as well?

Steve, it'll be stocked with fingerlings. The MN DNR really doesn't stock fry as it doesn't take well in most lakes. They typically stock adults in lakes that have high pike populations or in lakes close to brood lakes when the opportunity arises. The plan is to stock 2000 +/- every other year for 10 years and evaluate. It's believed that the fishery will be naturally sustaining by then as many of the other lakes in the region are.
