So I'm new into musky fishing and I'm looking to start and expand my lure collection. I'm wondering what some good top water lures are to start out with? Any other essential lures to start out with?

Thanks

Top Raiders, Top Walkers and Pacemakers are my top 3. Lots of other great ones out there as well. But those are the 3 I throw 95% of the time when I'm throwing top water. I've never been a walk the dog top water fan. But I've heard that the Weagle catches fish.

For a beginner, grab yourself a Top Raider, a Hawg Wobbler, and a Jackpot. The Top Raider is your most basic prop style bait, the Hawg Wobbler simply requires a slower retrieve, and the Jackpot is one of the easiest to work zig-zag topwaters on the market. If I were to only own three topwater baits (what a stupid idea...) those would be the ones.

When this question comes up, many forget the talley whacker... Never forget the talley whacker... As mentioned above, pacemakers, hogwooblers are awsome baits that are easy to find...

I prefer the lineup offered by American Hardwood Lures. The quality and fish catching abilty are top in the industry. There is not a tougher bait on the market. The paint jobs are superb. There are all kinds of different sizes and actions available. Check them out at www.musky-lures.com There's video footage showing what each bait looks like in the water. You won't be dissapointed with AHL.

Mr. 50 just hit the big 3! For a person new to this, these three baits are simple and very effective. m

Having a Topraider in your arsenal is a must!! They have been catching fish for years and still produce for me every year. Have to have a Pacemaker. The clicking of the hook on the prop drives them crazy!! Hawgwobbler is a great slow retrieve bait. And for a walk the dog topwater the weagle is the best on the market in my opinion.

In my opinion all the lures everyone has mentioned are great lures,im not going too second guess anyone. The 3 topwaters i prefer are the creeper, topraider and as of last year a booyah 7 inch buzzbait with a shad/white skirt.
Alot of topwater lures catch muskies. Its all about your preference and how fast/slow you wanna fish.
