Posts: 1086 | Any of you guys happen to have any photos of where/how you've mounted your bow mount electronics in your boat? Looking for ideas and options for mounting locations. Just curious to see what some people have done.

| In most cases, I am fishing off the port side of the boat. I wanted my vexilar in a place that would be easy to read without having to turn around. I purchased a RAM mount for the unit, and mounted the ram ball on the vertical portion of deck where the trolling motor would mount, and placed it as close to the port gunnel as possible. My TM when stowed has the shaft going along the port side as well, so I needed to make sure I had clearance for that too.. Once done, Everything fit fine, and I only have to look down and to my right side (normal direction of the boat) to see the unit. Then, when travelling, all I need to do is loosen the RAM and re-tighten it with the vexilar tight against the gunnel so it does not vibrate or bounce. Steve | |||

Posts: 1086 | Hey...that sounds like a pretty cool idea. I like that idea. Have a pic by chance? If not...no big deal...your description is perfect. Thanks. This is the kind of ideas I was looking for.

Posts: 3508 Location: Elk River, Minnesota | Here you go... the second picture is of my view standing and casting (or...since being in the garage, dreaming of casting). The third picture shows it stowed. With the power cord and transducer cable attatched, I use the top of the unit to fit flush against the hull and tighten accordingly. I used the ram mounts because I was tired of taking off and re-attatching my electronics every time I travelled to a different lake. I wanted to be ready to go with very little to do. The ram mounts allow for that. With my X65 in the back, I have that one on a Ram mount as well. It tucks right under the rail and is always out of the way. If I am casting back there, I can raise it up and have it face me as I look down... Posts: 1086 | Steve, Thanks so much for taking the time and energy to go out and shoot those photos. Looks great. I agree...looks like a nice, simple, easy way to do things and keeps things out of the way and yet allows you to trailer while the trolling motor is stowed. I do have some RAM mounts laying around in my garage not being used. I may have to seriously think about this type of setup. Thanks again.

Posts: 2323 Location: Stevens Point, WI | Mack, I would highly recommend the Ram mounts, I have a very similar system as VMS. By using the Ram mounts you can adjust them very easy and also take the unit on and off for security purposes when traveling or just don't feel secure leaving electronics out in the open where people can easily access them and then come to find them gone! But like I said, I use the Ram mounts and I love them! I also agree with how VMS mounted his Vexilar on the port side because that way you don't have to move your head to look at the unit when its already straight down by your feet. Just my .02!

Location: Contrarian Island | it came with the boat and was just easier to leave there.... rather than have a big hole .... probably won't ever get turned on...though it does work....
