Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could post a picture of an original Dick Gries Topkick. I have seen
them in the past. I was able to pick one up recently but would like to check the original hardware set up. I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Bill,

Can't post a pic of the Top Kick but I bought the prototype from Dick a number of years ago when he had his (going out of business garage sale). It's black with a red tail, the tail is on a saparate wire so the tail hangs down at rest. As best as I can remember the dimensions the body is about 5"x1 1/8" and the tail is about 1 3/4" to 2" long. Th nose is sloped and rounded, not cut flat. 3 hooks 2on the body and the tail hook.

Hopes this helps.

Bill, I have both twin and single. However, I loan my digital camera to my brother for spring break. I should have it back by maybe Sunday? If no one posts a picture, I will for ya when I get it back.

I looked at my bait board picutes and can pick them out. I cropped it and don't know if it will turn out. Let me know it is what you are looking for.

I have put some blue shrink tubing on the single model on the left.

Gerard

Hello,

Thanks a lot guys for the help. I have been looking to pick up an old topkick for some time now. I found a guy on ebay who was selling collectable topkicks with custom paint jobs. I wasn't sure I was actually getting an original topkick. No one seemed to be bidding on them so I put a bid on for the starting price of ten bucks. I figured if it is not the real deal then I am not out much. I got the bait and it looks nice. Two things kind of caught my eye however. The first is that it appears the bait maker used staples to hold
the blade in place. The second there is a plastic bead off the back end, just before the wire end loop, split ring, and hook. The back blade does spin incredibly easy. Do either of you see a bead or these staples? I'm just trying to determine if it is an actual topkick or
a copy cat version. Thanks again for the responses.

The guy that purchased the company lives near Madison, WI, not in West Virginia. Unless he sold it to that guy - which I have not heard.

Bill, just looked at my Topkick and it has a metal bead behing the prop, not plastic. It does however habe the blade stapled into the tailsection.

The guy in VW bought a lot of bodies and assembled them himself. The originals did have staples on the tail section and a metal bead. This guy uses a plastic one and he has someone paint them for him. As close to the original as your gonna get. When all esle fails I'll put one on. Still one of the best topwaters. I bought a couple from ebay and a frind of mine bought 8.
