Today, with the heavy rains here in Oneida County, the ice has begun to move away from shore on the south side of the lake. And in place of the ice we had mergansers, mallards and wood ducks. The wood ducks are a real sign of spring for me. It has been long winter. Still have almost 2' of snow in front on storage garage with my boat, the it is going fast.

Wow. We've been up and down from the 80's to the 30's around here. Lake temps are pushing into the 60's in some spots. Muskies are finally moving where we can see them. Moved 4 or 5 on Saturday. Some still appear to be going thru the spawn phase.

Well we had the driest winter ever and warm, it's been as warm as 89 in my town and parts of metro Denver it was over 90.
That was in March April been in the mid 70' with a few days in the low 80's and dry. It should be in the low 60's with a lot of rain. We have 50% chance of rain tomorrow and chance of rain on Friday turning to snow Friday night/Saturday morning.
We already have all kinds of water restrictions, Some fools have already turned on there sprinklers (but with the water restrictions they don't want you to turn them on till May) That's when turn my on anyway. In these parts they tell you not to plant anything that will freeze till after Mothers Day. No fish caught out of our town pond yet. Last year at this time I was doing quite well for myself

The calendar may say spring starts in March, but usually after the final round of the Masters, in my part of Wisconsin, the spring season really begins to show itself. Kdawg

I’ve been out and about. Doing some trout fishing right now tried my Muskie spot about a week ago with no luck. Think they are still cold and down deep. With the higher temperatures they should be moving around more soon.

Someone asked me why I watched the Masters every year, and don't really watch any other golf. Part of it is because of the natural beauty of the course but the other reason is just that: I know spring is coming ;>)

Our 350 acre lake in northern Vilas opened up overnight. Not going to chase muskies for several weeks yet, but I'm excited to get back out on open water very soon!

84 degs Friday, 36 this morning. Yeah, it's spring in OH. Water was between 60 and 67 on our local lake. Muskies are in all 3 phases...pre, spawn and post. Got a 37 and 38 on Weds, both were chewed up pretty good.

We've had the lowest snow pack in the Rockies ever they year and warm dry winter. It's nice and cool this week with rain chances everyday in Denver with some late snow and rain we are up to eighth lowest dry winter in town. Even with some late snow the mountains are in trouble. Years ago we would take my dads boat up to the mountains and catch Muskie sized Pike and not far from where we caught those pike there was another lake (Antero) that also had Pike and lots of Trout some of the best fishing in the state. In 2002 we had a drought that year too and they drained Antero and it took over ten years with heavy stocking to get the lake back to it's former self except they put in Tigers instead of Pike and over a million Trout over the years. A few years ago my dentist "hay Chuck they got Tigers in Antero" then this spring "hay Chuck the muskies in Antero are over 50" and there's a state record in there. I'm not going to make it to Wisconsin this year so I was thinking of hiring a guide for couple days of fishing out of a boat. I don't have a boat. Well it's closed to boating and they are going to drain the Lake starting on the 1st of May and all possession and bag limits are off. All those fish will die. After today it's going to be cold and a chance for snow up there.

Had the first bonfire of the season this past weekend. That's a sign to me!
