Posts: 1996 Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | Now that the show season is half over, what are the hot new baits everyone is buying. Is it the Wabull, that thing looked awesome in the tank in Milwaukee. Maybe the Mepps Marabou, it seems like they are flying out the doors. How about the DD from ERC, looks like a great twitchbait. Maybe something Roger H2O is making???? I've only got one show left and I plan on doing some buying at this one. What do I just have to have.

Posts: 2427 Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | Norm, I would say that all the baits you mentioned are hot baits this year. The Wabull is simply a great lure that can be worked at so many different depths, speeds, and retrieves. The Mepps Maribu is just great looking and with the interchangeable blades and skirts, the colors are endless. I would also check out the new KDC bucktails, in both frog blade and fast blade. One final bait that has been hot, as I have seen them being sold by the ton since I am usually right by Brad at the shows, is the Twin Fin from Musky Innovations. Great lure, great action.

Posts: 2691 Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | I picked up a couple Depth Raiders and Suicks from the Guides Choice booth. Very nice custom paint jobs. The custom colored Buchers at Guides Choice are nice but the eyes come off very quick. Take some clear coat and seal the eyes, I learned the hard way last year. I put on bigger eyes then used envirotex to seal the eyes. I have lots of Mepps after last years fish in the PMTT at Madison. That is a must have bait. The best thing is you only have to buy a few of them and the combinations add up. Mepps is the one bait you can use your old ones and new ones to make any combo you need for the application you are going to fish. Interchangable tails and blades styles is key. Most bucktails you can't do that with. Thank you Mepps !!! I also grabbed some H2O's from Rodger. I have not worked this bait yet but the guys that have got me pumped to try it. The Wabull----No need to say anything about this hot bait. Good job Steve on this excellent versitile bait. Now I need some spinnerbaits-----What's the hot spinnerbaits out?

Location: Illinois-Indiana | Hey Mike, My buddy Brian at Snowcrest just came out with a 2 1/2 ounce spinnerbait for trolling and it should be a fish catching machine. Check out his site at www.snowcrestluremfg.com and see for yourself.

Posts: 2089 | Ralph, As far as spinnerbaits go, check out the VooDoo Tails(picked up a few in Chicago), CJ's and the venerable Rad Dog. Threw the Pearson Grinder last year and really like the 3/4 oz. for fluttering in pockets in the coontail/milfoil. Still built tough. The 3 oz grinder is awesome for slow rolling weed edges as well as the cabbage itself. Steve

Posts: 32958 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Cool new baits drive me nutz. I wish the market would slow down a bit, I have to buy every one, and then fish with it, and like it and buy another and.....sheesh! Lots of great new lures out there.
