I plan on attending my first muskie show this year and was wondering, do you actually save money on gear there? I'm looking at upgrading some of my gear while I'm there. I was just wondering what to expect. Thanks in advance

In my mind, there's more to the shows than just saving money. You may save some shipping costs on an item , but you get to see and feel the item in your hands before you slap down the bucks. Most times you can speak directly with the person who made the bait or whatever. Don't get me wrong, there are some fabulous deals to be had, especially if you're early, or catching them at the end as they pack up. enjoy! m

There are some deals but mostly retail. Like Mikie said there are more to sort shows than sales. Seminars, conversations to be had, swap meets. It's a learning experience and In many cases it's the only time you get to see some people like the tall red headed gentleman who posted above.

Always ask the booths for any 2nd hand rods or returns from Pro staffers. Many times you can get a lightly used rod for 50%+ off. But yes, there are usually some great specials at shows and always ask if you can get a deal on a bulk buy too.

Yes you can definitely save money at the shows. Usually 10-20 percent at the retailers. But as others have said, that’s not the main reason to go.

I get all the stuff that you are saying I plan on doing as much learning and meeting as I can while there. I've been to other types of shows in the past and some have deals and other are marked up ridiculously. Just figured that I would get a little prepared so I'm not so disappointed or surprised. I think my main focus will be on a couple rods. A shock and awe is about the top of my list followed by upgrading my mh. For that I'm looking at 3 companies, st croix, chaos, and ti. I'll probably start a post about that to learn more about them. Along those lines how beat are the rods the pros sell?

Check the TI website now, everything is 15% off, and they can bring your rod to the show. if they are attending.

Did this in 2019, right before everything shut down. Contacted TI, told them the rod I wanted and picked it up at the Wausau show. James had it waiting for me and threw in a rod sock, along with the show discount. Hard to beat that kind of service.
