Posts: 32 Location: Rockford, IL USA | I have a buddy wanting to sell me his Revo Toro 50 for my musky rod. I don't know much about these as I have always used round BC. It is silver in color and appears to be in pretty good shape minus a little boat rash. He is asking $ 100.00 for the reel. Is this a fair deal?

Posts: 393 | I have used these reels for years. I would ask how old and if they have been serviced/tune-up in the past. Another issue that comes up with these reels are their drags. Depending on age and their history they can be a decent reel but $100 might be a little high

Only issue I ever had is the thumb bar occasionally sticking, usually when I depressed it far to one side. Keep your thumb in the middle and the reel clean and it shouldn't be a problem. I sold a first gen 61 online last fall for $75, it went in about 40 minutes so I probably could have squeezed a little more out of it.

Posts: 8791 | We have 4 of them. great reels. I have the 60's, my wife has the 50's, and I sometimes wish I had gotten the 50's because they are that comfortable. There was a thumb bar issue on the early Revo. I forget what (defective) part I had to replace, but the replacement part was a re-design and solved the problem. Took about 10 minutes to change and they've been fine ever since. The only thing I never liked about them is that you have to be careful not to put too much line on them.

Posts: 427 | I have 6 of the Toros in Bothe the 60 and 50 sizes. I fish 5 days a week from April til ice out. I have the reels serviced regularly and in 8 yrs of use other than the thumb bar springs being updated and carbon matrix drag washers added the reels have been great. $100 is a more than fair price IMO. If you don't buy it let me know, I'm interested in it.
