Checking if anyone has built a rod off of the St. Croix Slingblade blank out longer to 9ft? I am considering having a rod built on this blank out to 9ft, primary purpose will be for tossing small to mid size blades up to Jr DCG size. I've used the standard production Slingblade for years, awesome rod, just seeing if anyone has built one out longer and has any feedback?

It should be an easy build. It will "speed" up the action a little by extending the butt, however it will still be a great blank for the baits you mentioned.
The only part that may impede the build is if you want to have a split grip with a butt section of handle shorter than the extension. In that case the extension joint will show unless you have some sort of decorative thread wrap in that area.

I've heard varying info on this. Some say the sling blade is essentially the same as the Big Nasty but with 6 inches taken off the butt end.

Others say the sling blade has a lighter tip. Can anybody clear that up?

yea I agree sling Blade is lil lighter in to half of rod than big Nasty. Love both the Rods along with top and tail and big dawg. Cant go wrong with sling Blade or Big Nasty but for what you want to throw id GO sling blade for sure. Don't they have a 10ft sling blade now not sure on new name if you want to go longer....Honestly the SWAT 9ft reminds me of the sling blade but lil longer its lighter in tip than big nasty IMO Nice Rod that I would never buy again unfortanantly

love the Rod just bad customer service experience and with all the competition and the cost of Muskie equipment Im just gonna give my money elsewhere so When I do have a real problem I get good service Like St Croix top notch CS...great product though no doubt about that!!
