Was wondering what you guys think abou power handles. What are the pros and cons of them? I am gonna buy a Lexa 300 7.1.1 but not sure which handle to get.

why the 300...go 400 imo, power handles are great for baits that pull and you straight retrieve, give you more power and leverage. baits you have to 'work' like twitch baits, gliders, side to side topwaters etc go w the double paddle.

I will be using it mainly for 1 oz or less spinnerbaits, musky killers, super shad raps and maybe an occasional regular dawg or shallow invader.

You can be prety versitile with the counterweighted ones. Personally I find very little difference on the actual cranking power but yeah... For cranking power long jigging handles are better

Get the LexaWinn 7.1 with power handle I took paddle off all my reels after using power counter balance handle....easier to reel easier to find handle when not looking Plus the Winn Grip on the power handle is Money especially in the cold and wet weather you wont regret it but you buy the double paddle and use a counter balance mark my words you will end up spending xtra money to change the handle

I like it power reeling like burning bucktails, but I find it comfortable for twitching baits or ripping rubber. Basically gives the hand, wrist, fingers a different workload then if you are using a reel with a standard handle.

some power handles provide no extra benefit.. ie, the Revo Winch came with a power handle and a double paddle but they were the same length handles... a true power handle should be longer than the stock double paddle...I put a Shimano TE power handle on my winch for slow rolling at night and slow moving topwaters..great handle. A tranx HG with the jigging world trinidad power handle provides way more leverage/torque for big blades....

Have any of you used the custom power handle from Dave's on the Calcutta D? The D already has a long handle, but I'd like more cranking leverage. I've got the faster 300 gears in my 400. Any feedback appreciated.

Probably not applicable for most, but I have some arthritis in my right hand and after a couple hours of fishing my hand starts to puff up and a nice power handle like on my Toro S model is easier on the hand. I have both styles but when my hand is acting up, I go to the power handles for ease of use.
