lots of options that all work well. I tend to use Quantum hot sauce oil and grease.

any reel grease is fine, but ...
I like to use a Marine Grease because it will stick on the parts plus most are rated for salt water corrosion protection.

Don't forget on drag washers DO NOT USE REEL GREASE or MARINE GREASE !!!!!
use CAL's Drag grease or Shimano Drag grease, you can get from SMOOTH DRAGS .com ask for DAWN.

I use the Penn saltwater stuff. Not sure it matters what you use as long as you clean and re-grease your reels regularly.

I second what pikemaster says. I have used the yamaha marine grease (the bright blue stuff) and it works well and lasts a long time without breaking down. I don't use my reels too heavily (a couple weeks a year of fishing) and clean them every year so I have recently switched to using Cal's reel and drag grease for anything that needs grease. That way I do not have to worry about it getting into the drag stack. I really like it and it is by far the best stuff for your drag (I highly recommend a greased carbon fiber drag stack).

Penn grease for gears and Finish Line Teflon grease for the drag washers. The latter has a wide temp range, salt water rated and maintains a smooth drag. Theres nothing magic about Cal's. I use only carbontex drag washers.

I use Ardent reel butter. No complaints from me.

Ardent Reel Butter is excellent for gears, but a general Marine Bearing Grease is better (and more cost effective) for general protection of the reel and gears. A thin coat of grease should be on every internal part for protection from corrosion and Penn Precision grease, Yamalube or any Marine Bearing Grease is a better and far cheaper choice.
