Subject: Dimaggio and Keys Win 1ST Muskie Country™ on Monona

On Saturday, May 12th the WORLD MUSKIE TOURNAMENT SERIES™ (WMT Series™) hosted the first ever Muskie Country Tournament Circuit™ (MCTC™) on Lake Monona of the Madison Chain of Lakes. At first glance with overcast skies coupled with a nice chop on the water, it appeared to be the perfect muskie fishing conditions however the reality of the day’s fishing would result in low numbers of muskies registering 34 inches or better. Even though numerous short muskies were captured by tournament anglers, only four would eclipse the 34” minimum.

The first muskie to be registered for the day would come from the team of Sam DiMaggio and Tim Keys when they would score on a 36 ¼ incher at 8:59am but the duo wasn’t done as they tallied another 39” muskie at 11:45am. DiMaggio and Keys needed their second muskie of the day to solidify the victory because only after a minute they registered their first fish, Dan Ballweg and Jordan Frey landed the largest muskie of the competition with a 40 ¾ incher at 9:00am. The final muskie of the day would be captured by Bob Bender and Jason Kowing at 11:58am and measured in at 35 ¼ “.

The MUSKIE COUNTRY TOURNAMENT CIRCUIT™ Monona tournament paid down six places:
1st - Sam DiMaggio/ Tim Keys
2nd – Dan Ballweg/Jordan Frey
3rd – Bob Bender/Jason Kowing
4th – Rob Kahl/Chad Peterson
5th - Eric & Nick Borelli
6th – Chris Kakaletris/Jeff Anderson

The next tournaments for the MUSKIE COUNTRY TOURNAMENT CIRCUIT™ are Pewaukee Lake, Saturday May 19th and Lake Okauchee the following Sunday, the 20th. Both tournaments still have some open spots left. If you are interested in fishing one or both, you can sign up for them the Friday before the events, May 18 th at the Machine Shed Restaurant just off HWY 94 near the Holiday Inn and the Wildwood Lodge at 5:30pm until
