I was at Bass Pro Shops last night and happened to to see a fishing guide book that included the lake were I caught my first 'Ski. I picked up the book to see what the book said about the lake -- In summary it said 'don't bother fishing here, its shallow, murky, and the lake is subject to large winter kills.' It did at least mention you can catch muskies there.

My experience in one afternoon maybe 4 hours: 5 biters, 2 follows, 3 in the boat. I think a more accurate description would have been 'if you want action fishing for muskies and don't mind catching short fish this small weedy lake will provide what you are looking for.'

I guess I found it a little funny that the book was so far off from my experience. Based on the fact that this is a small backwater lake with zero devolopment I wondered if somebody was trying to keep this lake a secret?

Just thought I would throw the thought out there and see if any of you have any similar experiences with maps or map books. Maybe you have some favorite map books that you have had good luck with using to dial into some fishing?
