I am trying to find a rod/reel combo that can throw double 10s and pounders. I know a rod that is good for one isn't great for the other, but I am trying to find something that is serviceable for both. For the rod I was thinking of either the Lamiglass LGM86XH 8'6 4-12 oz, or the Musky Innovations MIX86 8'6 3-12oz. For the reel I am thinking about a high speed Diawa Saltist levelwind. The biggest concern I have is the weight of the reel. It is quite a bit heavier than anything I currently own, but I am hoping the added effort required to hold the rod and reel all day is offset by the energy saved from easier cranking. Am I nuts? The MI rod also comes in a 9' version, is there a noticeable advantage to 9' over 8'6? The longest rod I currently have is 8'6. Storing a one piece 8'6 rod is hard enough, if there isn't a big advantage I would probably stick with the 8'6.

Thanks,
Micah
