More Muskie Fishing -> Muskie Biology -> Musky Location?

Subject: Musky Location?

Are muskies always on the move? Last summer I caught a nice sized musky on a Northern Wisconsin lake pushing 50". This fish looked very similar to a fish I caught the previous summer around the same time of year and almost on the same spot on the lake. During the summer months do muskies stay within a certain range on a lake or are they cruising around the entire body of water? My opinion is if bait fish are present and are holding in a large weed bed, for instance then muskies will be present. Obviously they are a predator fish and
follow their prey, but sometimes a musky can be found in "no fish land."

Any opinions or experiences with musky where abouts during the summer months?[:sun:]
