| Just got rid of my old boat and have to say that this engine has performed excellently.
Fishing from 50-65 days a year and trolling at idle several days each spring for trout locally, and lately pulling the kids on tubes, this motor has stood the test and started easily and quickly in temps from 97 to mid 20's. Minimal choking always got me going. Carbon build up on slow trolling? Not. Sparkplugs? Never had to change them. Rugged? Well I don't know how you guys use your boats but mine goes in where the fish are, and the rocks, and the stumps, and the mud and gravel bars. I have been through 5 props total on the boat. Put on my last repaired prop, after knocking a piece off my last new one, right before trading. Managed to hit something so hard in northern WI(a Lake near the famous Lake X)that it sheared the skeg off right below the prop gears, leaving less than a quarter inch of rough steel to weld to. Beat the heck out of the prop so that it was unrepairable. Prop guy was able to weld new skeg on, replace the gear lube, and put on replacement prop, and away she went. That was two years ago.
The only thing I had to do besides start the motor was to pump the bulb up on the gas line occasionally especially after a few mile trolling run. Probably had a slight leak in the bulb.
