| I've often used heavy duty skirted bass jigs for muskies because they are typically lighter than the jigs made specifically for muskies. I want the slower drop, which gets even slower when adding a creature. I want to sell a few of these this spring, here are the specs.....
I start with Booyah or Terminator Top Secret jigs in 1/2 - 3/8 ounce. These jigs have rattles that allow easy addition of the creature, and the Terminator even has a small wire clip to help hold the creature in place. Good strong hooks, I've boated a number of fish in the upper 30"s on these baits.
I add a 14" leader made of Sevenstrand braided wire. I use 60# wire myself (on a dedicated jig/creature rod with 30# Powerpro) but sometimes buddies want heavier so those guys get 90#. The leaders are carefully crimped and there's a McMahon black swivel in 100# for the 60# Sevenstrand and 150# for the 90# Sevenstrand. The swivel has a small Bucher split ring at the top and this prevents the leader from being reeled into the top eye on the rod.
Here are some pics below. The "Musky Thumper" is the bigger one with the metal weedguard. This jig is made by some local guy (Whitman Dream Catcher Lures) and I'm looking forward to trying it out this year.
I would like to send out packages of 3 skirted jigs (with leaders attached) at $15/package. Price includes postage.
Please send me a PM or write to [email protected]
If not completely satisfied you get your money back and you keep the baits, too.
THANK YOU!
