Muskie Fishing -> General Discussion -> Manta Hooking Percentage

Subject: Manta Hooking Percentage

I have lost more fish in my boat than I have caught with this lure.

I love the Manta but I feel that it has one of the worst hooking percentages of any lure out there.

Has anyone attempted to "modify" this lure to improve the hooking percentage?

Most attempts by myself and a friend of mine to modify the lure have had a negative impact on the action of the lure.

A buddy of mine has added a smaller treble hook on about two inches of seven strand wire to the back hook, this had no effect on the action, but he hasn't used it enough since the modificatin to see if it will have a positive effect.
One concern he has is this trailer hook foul hooking a muskie..

Let me know what you folks think,

Thanks - John B
