| A new long-term Minnesota Muskie Management plan is long overdue. The new plan is near completion and TJ DeBates of the MN DNR will give an overview of the new plan at our monthly meeting at Sweeney's. New to the plan is incorporation of regular yearling (overwintered) stocking, in addition to fingerling stocking. This addition of yearling stocking is the result of a study began over 15 years ago by the Twin Cities Chapter, and will be updated by Kristan Maccaroni. MN DNR has plans for specific bodies of water.
In a cooperative project between MNDNR and Muskies Inc, pit tagged fingerling and yearling muskies have been stocked in Minnetonka, White Bear and Bald Eagle Lakes for over a decade. Kristan Maccaroni of West Metro MNDNR will give a progress report on the recapture of tagged fish to date, including data collected by fishermen using the tag readers provided by the Chapter. The data is promising and is being used to update the Minnesota Muskie Management Plan. If you have a pit tag reader, bring it to the meeting and Kristan will download your data.
Eat off Sweeney's inexpensive menu 5 to 7 if you like, Meeting at 7 upstairs.
