Got back last night from our week in canada. Our group of four(five of us went but my dad fished walleyes) got 15 muskies with the biggest 25lbs. figuree also got a 44" pike that went 24lbs(pig!!!!). Two of us lost 50+ inchers($@###@$%). My big one was lost afer it grabbed my Topraider when I looked down at my vexilar and did not get a good set. poor fundamentals on my part, as that is where I had been raising this pig, and it hit at prime time(lessons learned even after years of preaching fundamentals to others). Highlight for me was a 24lb(estimate) spotted musky that ate my 10" jake without even casting it. I got up in the morning and headed down to the dock to ready my boat. I was waiting for my partner to finish breakfast so I decided to try out the action of a newly painted jake. I dropped it in and made a figure 8 and the fish immediately came out from under my boat where it was hiding, followed the 8 twice and ate. The owner of the lodge ran down to take a pic for me. Other highlight was figuree catching a 25lber on the rough runner surface lure I gave him for helping me fix my deck at home the week before. Dad had a 50+ eat a 15" walleye and he fought it for 10 minutes before it let go, and he also had several others give him a scare or two. Lots of lookers each day, but few ate. 90% of our hits/catches came right at primetime so it made for some longer days.
