Location: Passaic, NJ - Upper French River, ON | Will try to be more specific this time. We'll be fishing the Upper French
River from Dokis Marina area up to Lake Nippissing.
Our strategy on clear, sunny days is to start early at deep water edges near back bays, without regard for current. At mid-day we usually go to deeper main channel waters and look for baitfish, or to the mouths of the inlets from bays into the main channel. At twilight we like to try the mid-channel reefs.
On overcast days we look to key off wind direction and shallow locations. The water there is gin clear, and this year the temps look cooler than last year. Is this a good approach ?
The problem is that there is great looking structure everywhere - west facing rock walls, neck downs, bays into river channels as wide as lakes,
points into the river, mid-channel reefs.
Where the heck do you start !!! |
