| * With all the modern gadgets, electronics, gizmoe's etc. used for modern Muskie fishing.
* I was wondering how far have we gone as angler's?
* How many here on this sub forum would know, remember, perhaps own, the following.
* PS - I post this here, because I prefer the low key, tinker , tier, lure , "tackle craft" type , "catch a fish its a bonus" found in sub forums like this over the gun-hoe , bigger, better, best type A's ;)..... elsewhere.
* Just for fun (see hints way below Only if you need). If you know, even after hints, just reply = Yep or Yes to 1, 1a , 2 etc, rather than give (spoil) the answer
QUIZ - FIRST QUESTION - EASIER OF THE TWO
1) Do you know what a Double Ender is ?
1a) By chance have you ever owned one, been in one, built one or knew an old timer whom used one?
2) The tough quiz question? If you knew question one's answer than perhaps you may know what " to skitter and skate " with a double ender is ? Disclaimer - this one (phrase) may be somewhat of a regional catch phrase buts its as old as dirt.
Hints way below (if needed). Don't look until you have too
I will post the answers about Thanksgiving time
YEA THE HGINTS ARE HERE (chuckle) NOW GO BACK UP AND TRY WITH OUT THEM - TILL YOU ACTUALLY NEED THEM - LOL - THANKS
Hints
QUESTION 1 = right now (fall) Double Enders were and in some cases still are used by some for one specific technique even after certain other powers were available
You were specialty skilled if you could build one
Human powered
Some of late/modern started a new catch phrase for these type crafts.........aka......."row trollers"..................besides "Double Enders" over a hundred years ago they were sometimes also referred to as "Skiffs" and "Guide-boats" in certain regions.
PS- they were not used nor intended ever solely for "row trolling" especially not for deep water trolling via guide and his sport........which .....brings us to our second tricky question
Question 2 = its the two techniques which were commonly used by guides with a Double Ender a over a hundred years ago - "skitter and skate"
It has to do with weed lines and or lilly pads
Of the two techniques one (skitter) in modern terms may be referred to as bulging , gurgling, etc. The other is still very, very common though.......it's no longer called "to skate" or "skating" the XXXXLXXX
