Subject: Go Pro Mounting Height

Location: Eastern Ontario
Has anyone determined the optimum height for pole mounting a Go Pro on a boat.

I have cut a slot in the end of an ABS pipe so it will fit inside of a Springfield seat post which I want to put on the back deck while casting and the front deck while trolling. I am wondering what height to cut and cap so I can mount a tripod head. The boat is 17 foot.

I would also like to be able to pull decent still shots from the video when alone.

If anyone wanted to post pictures of their set up it would be most helpful ( couldn't spell appreaciated )
