Subject: Tracking/Monitering Muskie?

I'm wondering how many of you pros track or moniter muskie. (or just hardcore muskie anglers) Lets say your pre-fishing a lake and you've spotted a legal muskie that seems as though he's claimed a bit of water, do you cast at him, or wait until tourny day?
Last spring (the week after pike and walleye opener) I was walking the shoreline on Mille Lacs (between the pier and boat landing in Mapleview campgrounds, Hennipen St. Park) and I saw muskie, that was over 50" cruising the water in about 1.5ft of water. What are the chances of her being back this year around the same time? On the same day, I also saw two pairs of (smaller) ski's swimming between the boat landing and the point directly to the left. If these fish lived, do you think they will be back again, spawning in the same area? I saw those fish on a very bright, sunny day. The next day wasn't near as bright, and I only saw one small pike. Was is that?

Thanks,
MJB
