Does anyone have the new Okuma muskie rods yet ? They were supposed to be available in mid October.

I've got a couple. They are awesome.

I still prefer my customs, but in the cold weather the Okumas will get the nod.

Best rod I've ever used in this price range. I like them alot better than the similar Ticas.

I used Sworrall's this weekend, along with the Okuma Induron reels. I liked what I used. I was throwing a Double 10 bucktail and I believe it was the 400 model Induron, man that was easy. I hope to have a few of those rigs for next season.

Rollie & Hellens has them right now. I'm not sure about the other shops like Smokey's. I just finished a dealer show in Minnesota and there were quite a few dealers that wrote orders for them. There are a couple stores in the Eagle river area that will have them next spring as well as a one in Hayward that put in a good order. If you are looking for one right now... call Rollie & Hellens.

Picked one up at R&H before the PI outing. Great rod. I echo what Lambeau said. Can't beat it for $110.

I was just wondering if they were out yet. I have some ordered from a local Okuma dealer; guess I'll have to wait until the big guys sell all they can befor the little dealers get theirs.

*** Hey Joe... I can assure you that big or small... all orders for the EVX rods went out (I have zero orders in house for the small quantity of pieces remaining). There is a good chance that your dealer purchased them through a distributor so it may take an additional week since it will stop between my warehouse and the dealer. You may want to mention that Okuma states the rods are in stock in California and to check with the distributor that they purchased them from.

If I can assist in any way... let me know.

Mark

Joe,
Ask your local dealer when he expects the order, and as Mark said, have him check with his distributor to see when the rods are scheduled to arrive. One dealer having an item in stock while another doesn't means different order dates or a different distributor, most times.

I can't find specs on any rods 8' or longer. Is there somewhere they can be seen?

Mike...

I noticed the other day that our website wasn't updated with the new rods. I will ask the webmaster to get the details up tomorrow or as soon as possible.

As a basic guide on specs.... All of the new rods are made of IM8 Graphite with Pac Bay guides and a cermet tip. All of the reel seats are Fuji's. They also have a lifetime warranty. The prices range from $89 - $109 (I believe).

Here are the models.

EVX-C-761MH

EVX-C-801H

EVX-C-861H-T (Telescopic)

EVX-C-861XH-T (Telescopic)

The EVX rods rock!

The 8'6" XH is one of the better rods I have used for tossing mag dawgs and pounders.

For the price, you simply cant beat these rods.

Mark,
Did you do away with the 8'6" MH Telescoping?
I love that rod. You can make a Baby Wabull dance the funky chicken with that rod.

Hey Kent...

I never had an 8'6" MH tele... you have the 8'6"Heavy action (lighter of the two).

I must apologize to you though... I am typing this as I sit in a hotel in Salt Lake City. The trip turned into a fly in... fly out so it will have to be another day when we meet in person. Hopefully in the spring you can drag me out and say.... right over there....

Talk to you soon bud.

I guess you're right...I could have sworn that the little paper tag said MH, but the rod definitely is labeled H.
Even though I have no idea what it apparently is, I love the rod. hahaha

Anytime, I'll still be here...

I'm real sure that the rod slides down into the butt section.

Enough friction (when extended) is there to have that rod be held in place when casting.

As the guest above pointed out, a large portion of the rod does slide down into the butt section. I don't have a tape measure on me so I dont have the exact measurements of the rod AFTER being reduced. Will check on that, and get the info on here asap.

I measured the retracted portion at 19 inches, leaving approximately a 7 foot rod (6' 11")

I just picked my new Okuma muskie rod today, I ordered both of the new rods but only one came in to my dealer. I got the heavy one it's rated for 4-12 oz lures. I ordered it first week of September and was told they would be available about October 15, got it on November 16. Not bad for a rod advertised as an '08 model. The rod looks great and can't wait to use it. Don't know when I'll get the other rod, Dealer says they have'nt shipped them from California yet.

Joe...

As I mentioned... I have shipped all orders that were placed with me on the new Musky rods. If you need one right away... you can order it from Rollie & Hellens. I know they have received their shipment. As of today... the only orders I have in house for the telescopic rods are from Gander Mountain and one of my distributors in Minnesota (both orders came in yesterday). All other orders have been shipped a while ago.

I should have a better idea next week. Our Sales Manager that covers Canada is up in Toronto I believe at a distributor show. He should be able to tell me how many dealers ordered them. There is a good chance though that the dealers will not bring them into their stores until the spring. If I get some information from him next week, I will let you know.
