Can someone explain to me how my spool capacity for 17lb mono is 270yards, 80lb braid is 165yards when both are the same diameter (.016)?

Did those spec. line capacity numbers come from the reel manufacturer? If they did, give their customer service dept. a call and see if they can explain it to you. kdawg

Great idea, here is their response

Mono line has a certain degree of ductility. Under the same line diameter, entangled lines with a certain tension will elongate the Mono line and make it thinner. Therefore, Mono lines with the same diameter will have a longer length

Our 80lb Braid test line has a diameter of about 0.18in, which is slightly thicker than 0.16, so the test results may be shorter

And there may be conversion errors between lines of different specifications
