I just picked up a 500 Line counter Tekota, and two 600 line counter Tekota's. I ran Okuma's in the past, but when I wore out the last set I wanted to try the Tekota's, I like the new low profile, I love the clicker as some have previously mentioned, I like the drag and I like to run a matched set.

I went with a matched set with my fishing partner so we have 6 reels. We decided to go with 500lc's for our transom rods, and 600LC's for our board rods. We figured the 500's would be good for Transom rods and double as sucker rods in the fall. We went with the St. Croix Mojo Musky trolling rods; 7XHM for Transom rods, to handle the double 10's or hard diving cranks, but don't need the extra line capacity, we used the 8'HM for the tight board rods with 600's usually grandmas or if need be a lighter crank, and the 9XHM 2 piece for the wide board rods, just to help the spread of the rods. I stayed away from the longer 10' rods, after watching people, (including myself) try to land and net trolling fish with a 10' rod. I see people play the fish from the front deck, (2' above the waterline, rod in the air, heck the tip of the rod can be 16'-18' off the waterline, no wonder fish are breaking the surface 100' back, then trying to get the board off with that long rod and then netting the fish....I stopped at 9'.

Sorry to ramble.

Has anyone ever heard of any parts swap out or after market solution to getting a louder drag clicker from an older version Tekota 700.

No, but guessing you mean the 600 because the 700 has a loud clicker.

I bought 3 of the Penn Fathom II line counters this spring. After minimal use, all 3 had the sight glass pop out of the line counter. I glued them back in, so all is good. Other than that, the reels seem pretty solid
