Just saw on the news, that Alumacraft is laying off 68 workers due to declining boat sales and supply issues. Started making aluminum boats in the '40s.

Bummer. I hope it's temporary. Lots of fish came over the gunnels of my Navigator 165. To say nothing of the 18' canoe my parents had.

Paper said they still have 200+ employees, and trimming from two shifts to one, so still making boats.

Since so many new boats are financed, wonder if rising interest rates impacted sales.

Probably to a certain degree, but you also had to expect a lull after the buying frenzy of the pandemic.

Or maybe 4 years ago a 185 competitor fully loaded was only 35k now its 60k. I know because I priced them. It's a shame

Alumacraft was pushing boats on their dealers the past 2 years. Dealer inventory is at all time high. Dealers are not ordering more boats and this is what happens.

I paid 27500 for a 185 tiller in 2019. This past winter I saw one at a boat show for 43k, everything was identical. Ridiculous.

I really regret not going bigger when i got mine in early mid 2020. The 205 is just a long lost dream now.
