Random quote: Muskies are nasty. They stink. They taste bad. They are hard to catch and will disappoint even the most devoted angler. The lures required cost more than some women's jewelry. The rods and reels require a remortgage of the house. The boat is always worth more than the tow vehicle. Sure beats the hell out of golf. - (Added by: sworrall) |

Posts: 21 | The Chicagoland Muskie Hunters (Muskies Inc Chapter 03) will be hosting the 4th annual Lady of the Lake Muskie Tournament on Lake Geneva, WI. This year’s tournament will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 7:30 AM until 4:00 PM. Last year the tournament really exploded in size with a total of 56 boats registered. Considering the fact that we already have 30 boats registered and its only September 1st, I’m really expecting us to have well over 60 boats this year. Note that this is a fund-raising event and that ALL proceeds generated by this tournament will go directly toward the stocking of Leech Lake strain Muskies into Lake Geneva. We are planning on stocking 1,200 Muskies into the lake in early October. I am happy to announce that The Boat House is sponsoring the big fish prize this year for the tournament and is guaranteeing a $750 prize payout regardless of the number of boats registered. A big thank you to The Boat House for making this happen. The tournament details are: • Entry fee is $230 per two-person team, plus a $10 FishDonkey service fee. ($240 Total) • Prize Payout: 1st Place - $2,500, 2nd Place - $1,500, 3rd Place - $1,000, 4th Place - $750, 5th Place - $500, plus a $750 Big Fish Pool (All prize amounts are based on a full 75-boat field, except for the Big Fish Pool that is guaranteed at $750). The awards dinner will again be held a short distance away at the Lake Lawn Resort, in Delevan, WI. All tournament participants are encouraged to attend. The cash bar will be open at 5:00 PM, with a buffet dinner planned to start at 5:30 PM. In addition to the dinner and tournament awards presentations, we will also have a fund-raising raffle to conclude the evening. As of today, we have over $6,500 in raffle prizes that include resort packages, guide trips and a boat load of great Muskie tackle that we will be raffled off. For those of you who already have enough Muskie gear, we will have a second raffle that will be a 50/50 split the pot prize (Although I say that you can never have enough Muskie gear). Again, all proceeds from the raffles will go directly back into the fishery through our stocking program. Don’t miss out on this event. Some of our sponsors include: The Boat House Vermilion Dam Lodge (Lake Vermilion, MN) Spring Bay Resort (Lake Vermilion, MN) Flag Island Resort (Lake of the Woods) Moonpie Outdoors Veteran Guide Service Guide Ide The Muskie Hunter TV Show La Preferida Thorne Bros Chervon Lakeside Bait and Tackle Spanky Baits Chaos Tackle Big Guy Baits Beaver Baits Phantom Lures Scale Wear Design Angling Anarchy The Jim Starwalt Team New for this year we will be selling tournament shirts from Scale Wear Design at the awards dinner. These long sleeve shirts have that all important UPF sun protection. We will be asking for a $35 donation for the shirts and will have the ability to accept credit card payments at the banquet. Again, all proceeds from the sale of shirts will go directly toward stocking. We will again be using the FishDonkey app to manage this year’s tournament based on its successful use the past two years. For those of you not familiar with the FishDonkey App, it allows participants to register for the tournament and pay online along with live leader board updates on the day of the tournament. For more information about FishDonkey, go to https://www.fishdonkey.com/. Registration is easy. Just download the FishDonkey app to your smartphone, select “Fish in a Tournament”, then search “2023 Lady of the Lake Muskie Tournament”. Follow the steps to register. So give it a try. It's sure to be a fun event. Contact tournament director Drew Matusek at (847) 849-7406 or [email protected] if you have any questions regarding this year’s tournament. We hope to see you there.

Posts: 21 | We are up to 43 boats as of this morning. Also based on the sponsors who have committed merchandise so far, we now have over $8000 worth in raffles prizes for the awards banquet following the tournament at the Lake Lawn Resort. These totals are certain to grow between now and October 21st. Don't wait too long to register.

Posts: 21 | With a week to go before the tournament we now have 55 boats registered. We might just hit our goal of 60+ boats this year. We’ve shattered our goal for raffle prize value with over $9000 in prizes. That should make the awards banquet fun even if you didn’t catch any fish. We hope to see you there on October 21st.
