Hello Everyone,
Hope all of you are safe in this pandemic. I am really getting fed up with my first vise, a cheaply made China product. I want an instrument that will clamp large treble hooks ,any size of coil and spins with ease. So I am curious what everyone is using and what they recommend.
I suspect a vise made for saltwater lures may be what I need that does not have an
outrageous price.

| Hi Jim, I use a pair of vise grips that have a solid rod welded to them. The solid rod fits in the holder of the cheaper fly vises. It cost me a beer for a friend to weld the rod on the vise, and the rod and vise grips was about $20 all total. |

| I use my bench vise for the 7/0 trebles works ok .

Location: midwest | If you are in need of a fly tying vise look at the products from Dynaking. they have the strongest jaw assemblies for holding lark saltwater hooks in the fly tying industry. They are pricey but a lifetime investment in a machined tool. https://dyna-king.com/ I have a simple kingfisher that I've used since the mid 90's on my hooks from 2/0 and up. |

Hope the pandemic does not prevent us from going to the lake.

Location: Milwaukee, WI | Been tying for years, you would not need a rotary vice for bucktails. Nice to have, but a simple vise works. Check out a Peak if you want rotary. |
