I need to do the carpet bad on my 1700 osprey..i also built a rear deck that needs to be carpeted. also i am going to paint the topside and do some repairs in the fiberglass and keel. does anyone have any recommendations for the following.

1. where to get and what carpet to put in
2. where i can get new factory trim items ie...the rails and rear bumpers open gunnel
3. good fiberglass product for patching holes and nicks not through the hull holes
4. new windscreen,,i got the flame model..not digging it too much

basically my boat looks like an old sock,,,i was going to sell it but people turn their nose...lol.... darn good boat if you ask me i have a good running 90hp merc 4 stroke on it. has a lot of battlescars.

I was able to get trim and carpet direct from Tuffy on my old E-Mag. They were great to work with and I thought their pricing was very reasonable. I'll be interested to hear about other carpet recommendations though as I am currently in the middle of rehabbing a 681vs and am looking at carpet suggestions other than Ranger.

If I was re-carpeting a boat and wanted something really nice, I would contact Bass Cat and try and get some of the carpet they use. I saw their boats at a show and thought the carpet was very high quality. Post progress/before and after pics if you get a chance...

There are only a couple mills in the US supplying boat carpet. There are several grades, and advantages and disadvantages to each grade.

The lightest weight has a very short nap, and although it wears well, it doesn't look 'plush'. The medium weights are what most companies choose offering a nice balance between feel, look, and nap height, which doesn't mat down easily. The heaviest weight I don't like much, it shows traffic areas really easily and has to be kept really clean to look good.

I used bass pro for the deck extensions on my Javelin and Alumacraft. It wasn't the lowest price, but the next step up. It has held up really well. On the Alumacraft I believe it was the exact same carpet.

One other thing to look at is some manufacturers are now selling boats with padding under the carpet. I haven't fished out of a boat with it to know, but it sounds like a great idea when you're standing for 14 hours non-stop.
