Posts: 489 Location: NW WI | Headlock - 2/24/2024 10:09 PM Great baits. Put a 6/0 in place on the front single hook and hang a 3/4 oz bell sinker off the back and they cast great. Something they do not see. Good idea, I don't know why I didn't think of that. One of the first inlines I ever bought purely because of the more weedless single hooks. Quickly quit throwing it because of the short casting distance I'm gunna try that now.

Posts: 307 | George's 'smoking' was mentioned.Bless his soul but he definitely was a smoker.Heavy smoker. If i fished with him on Whitefish Bay it was a near ritual.Prior to leaving the dock he would check a compartment near his seat and make sure he had a full carton of packs of cigs.Partial packs were removed from the boat and he would start by opening a fresh pack before leaving. A character in that sense but a great guy!!!

Posts: 829 Location: Maple Grove, MN | At one point, Eagle Tails were the nunber one Muskie catching lure. That was before so many got hooked on the big bucktail craze. They never stopped working.

Posts: 1224 | Up to the early 2000's (the last time I looked) The Eagle Tail was the all time leader of 50" muskies caught on the Muskies INC Lunge Log. I think Suick was second.

Posts: 339 Location: Long Prairie, Minnesota | I still have about 15 Tails hanging in my box. Still throw them quite a bit. Effective bait to say the least, never stopped being that. Just like everything else these days, the new shiny stuff gets all the attention, but never a wrong time to throw an Eagle Tail. What I cut my teeth on while learning to Musky fish with my dad. Had an old 6' Fenwick rod that looked like a pool cue and one of the first 6500's. Setup made that Eagle Tail feel like I was pulling a tank. Had some sore forearms after throwing that rig for a full day!
