I fish a lake that has very stained water (you can see maybe 2 feet down on a bright day, it's like tea/coffee). What would be some good lure choices? I'm thinking maybe bucktails with painted blades and a dark skirt, but I wasn't sure if I should use large or small blades. What do you guys think? Large blades or small blades? Dark or light lures? Should I use crankbairs, jerkbaits, top water, or something else instead?

Black is good in Stained water also hot colors and white. Blade colors painted hot colors, gold that is tarnished and at times silver. And contrast.

Your favorite topwater is a good choice.

Alright, I have a black double 8 with shiny black blades, a white/blue flashabou with silver blades double 10, and a black double 10 with silver blades. Was looking at made a double 8 with orange blades, some bucktails with a copper/gold blade, and maybe some single 9s and 10s. Should I use large or small blades?

Stained water, I like Gold, Copper, (metallic gives good flash) …then Chartreuse. Chartreuse looks white in stained water. Your copper is very similar to Orange, so no need to make the orange….imo

Have both, small and Large blades…large for a chop condition, small in calmer environment!

Large blades work better in rough water and smaller blades work better in calm conditions?

Kinda my take after 40 years chasing these creatures. Chop kicks out higher pitch sounds, big blades throw off lower thump……..you now have Contrast. Attraction!  Vise versa with smaller blades.

Some young guide who’s done sound studies told me this back in the mid eighties. It works…Wonder Who?

Whopper plopper for a topwater is good. I’ll usually stick with darker multi colors. A nice trout pattern especially if your fishing a stocked lake.
