Location: Lower Peninsula | I’ve had enough experience with moonrise/set on Musky lakes to become a believer. But is it worth it to start keeping track of the moon when fishing for large pike?
What do you think. I’m talking big Great Lakes pike here 35”+

| I'm pretty sure it goes the same for most animals if not all. And if you started keeping track you'd probably have your answer. |

| Ya, I think you just notice it less with pike because you can always pick up some opportunistic non-trophy fish between windows. Early in the season its a weather/water temperature game for pike in my opinion, then later windows for big pike are dictated the same way as windows for musky (moon, conditions, etc)

| I have noticed that I often catch the plus-sized pike during periods when I catch muskies.
I catch a lot of pike regardless though. They tend to bite just about anything. And 95% of them are the small annoying variety. |

| I think it's more noticeable with muskies, because they bite less than other fish. Bass and pike can be enticed to bite darn near any time, so it's harder to notice something like moon activity. |

yes, I'm an Italian pike angler and I always look at the lunar tables, often the biggest pikes (over 40") are caught at the time of moonrise and moonset... or in the days between new moon and full moon |
