Random quote: Muskies are nasty. They stink. They taste bad. They are hard to catch and will disappoint even the most devoted angler. The lures required cost more than some women's jewelry. The rods and reels require a remortgage of the house. The boat is always worth more than the tow vehicle. Sure beats the hell out of golf.

Here is a 10" foiled bait with carved gills and fins. The scales are pressed into the foil with this metal tube that I cut as shown in the pic. It takes a bit more time doing them one at a time, but makes a pretty cool scale pattern.

That is some incredible work! "Bit more time" might just be the understatement of the year

Thank You!
It actually doesn't take all that long, especially compared to individually carving the scales. I lay down a very thin coat of epoxy and let it get tacky before applying foil. Pressing the scales in really makes sure it sticks and adds a bit of texture for the paint and top coats.

Thanks! It's one of those patterns that can pose for several different species. Basically, it's just fishy looking.

Hopefully the Muskie think it's smooth enough to inhale. Thanks for the comment.
