Posts: 1971 | Yes - I've seen pike porpoise, even thrown at them and caught them, after seeing it happen..that said I've seen muskie do it more frequently for sure

Have seen musky do it but not pike, or at least not that I recognized as pike. Going to pay more attention.

Posts: 306 | Don't know if what I've seen is porpoise, but I've seen them leave the water trying to hit a Jackpot or another swimbait a few times. I've heard they close their eyes (well, sort of), when they attack a prey.

Location: PA Angler | Seen purebred do it a lot. Also seen them do funny things on top of the water. Mostly when another bigger one is chasing it.

Posts: 1210 | In the early 90's when Quincy here in Colorado was really kicking out big fish, if you went out there you would see these big hybrids swimming around with there heads out of the water. Just swimming on top of the water. Every time out there this would happen.

Last summer had an odd thing happen, which was not porpoising, maybe gulping air? Guy I was fishing with had a follow on a large shallow flat. I quickly got my lure out of the water but a few seconds later I saw a musky with most of its head out of the water looking right at me. About a rod length from the boat. Just a couple seconds, then turned and went down. Fishing partner saw the little splash when fish went down and asked what it was. When I told him, he said he didn't think it was the fish that followed, because it had headed off in the other direction. I have seen musky porpoise, but this one just seemed to be checking us out.
