Looking for a new reel to be dedicated to big blades. Either the tranx 400A or the lexa tws 400p-p. Which one will handle the abuse better? Anyone getting any use out of the new lexas? Thanks

Save up a little more for a Tranx 500 and not have to replace it for several years. For real, it handles the big blades way better than any other real, and I went through.a few before I took the plunge. It is now about to complete its 5th year for me with just typical annual maintenance. It's worth it.

I went 5 years on my lexas without any maintenance. That's living on muskie waters and being hard on my gear. There are top on my list! I have used both but by far prefer the Lexa.

Another vote for the Tranx 500. The Tranx 400 with a power handle would be second on my list.

I've been using a Lexa TWS 400 with 6.3:1 gears for the last couple of months, and really like the feel of it. It has performed flawlessly for blades, cranks, and rubber. I will be getting more TWS's over the Winter, and getting rid of some Garcias. I hate jigging handles, so I swapped the factory TWS handle for a counterbalanced power handle from the previous model Lexa 400, and put the TWS knob on it.

500, 400 with power handle, revo, zebco 33, then any daiwa lexa. The daiwa reels are among the worst musky reels for reliability ever made. I have serviced several that didn’t survive one day of fishing double 8’s.

What Abu's would you be getting rid of, and would you list them in the buy, sell, and trade? Love my Abu's. Kdawg
