Have had my Ranger Angler forv10 years on a single axle trailer with Rangers oil based cool hubs. No issue or problems. Should I be thinking of replacing them or servicing them somehow.

I had a single axle on my ranger trailer/681. Changed oil 50 weight synthetic religiously for 19 years, once or twice yearly, and never had a problem. I replaced the seals once or twice.

Bought a 618/ single axle rig back in 2017 where the owner neglected maintenance and I ended up blowing a bearing. Had the new hubs changed over to grease, and never looked back.

After talking to Ranger mechanics, sounds like they have made the move to grease hubs again.

It’s your call, but I’d consider switching over to grease.

I bought a used Ranger and, after a year, I had the hubs changed over to grease due to the stories of guys who didn't notice oil leaking from the inside seal and blew the bearing. That was 5 years ago, and with annual servicing, no problems.

How do you change over the hubs from oil to grease? Is it as simple as draining the oil and installing Bearing Buddy?

My Ranger Trail trailer is a 1997, I have only had 1 issue with my cool hubs. The drain plug for the cool hub had seized, and I could not drain/ refill the hub. I put a new hub on 12 years ago. I annually drain/ refill the hubs with #50 wt racing oil, and make sure I use never seize on the drain plug and lugs. Good Luck to you. FYI Ranger is very helpful if you need bearing numbers, or seal numbers.
